Maybe the title’s aim is too high (it’s a long way ’till there), but Tesla, followed by other scientists along the last century, discovered the principle of propulsion using strong electromagnetic fields. It’s not about traveling on the ground, but from the ground up, with an extraordinary speed and ease.

just a 3d model to show a bedini circuit… haven’t built one yet in the real world so can’t say how well it works… The green wires are the power circuit that spins the rotor and then recharges the capacitor via the diode rectifier… the red wires form the control circuit that flips the switches(transistors [...]

San Jose’s West Coast Green conference from last week had a point of attraction: the world’s first fuel-less car, made by Magnetic Air Car. They even say it will be produced beginning with 2010.

As an addition to yesterday’s passive, solar powered air conditioning article, I found out today that NIST researchers (in collaboration with Chinese scientists) have a strong word to say inrefrigeration technology that could revolutionize the inside components and operating cycle of that electricity guzzling, big, oldfridge of yours. Well, ok, it may not be as old as I [...]

the naturally occurring Grand Magnetic Pole Switch started 150 years ago, when north and south reverses, and should be a thousand year transition.
eventually, toilet bowls will flush counter-clockwise in the northern hemisphere and clockwise in the south.

There are no individual magnetic poles
(or magnetic charges). Electric charges can
be separated, but magnetic poles always come in pairs
- one north and one south.

The Earth’s magnetic
field appears
to come from
a giant bar
magnet, but
with its south pole located
up near the
Earth’s north pole
(near Canada).
The magnetic field lines come out of the Earth
near Antarctica and enter near Canada.

Imagine you are sitting around a campfire. Move closer to the fire, and you get hotter. Move away, and you get cooler. Pretty basic, right? Well, the closest star, our sun, doesn’t seem to be getting this. As you move away from the solar surface, into the sun’s outer atmosphere, the corona, it actually gets [...]

Then there’s P.H.Sprain’s device, that uses power to drive an electromagnet in order to get the dial past the point where it would otherwise get stuck.
The device is said to produce more power than is going in, however : Overunity.
