The third car with GM’s Voltec series hybrid power train was announced at the Geneva auto show, the Opel Ampera. The two cars preceding it were the Chevrolet Volt and the Cadillac Converj. The Opel Ampera shares a platform with the Volt, and the cars are nearly identical.

Ford Motor Company is taking a major step to jump-start the development of affordable small electric vehicles, and that step is catching the eye of drivers around the world. Ford has purchased majority interest in Norwegian-based PIVCO Industries, the manufacturer of the two-passenger TH!NK electric city car.

Treehugger features an article about a guy (Benjamin Nelson) who converted his Kawasaki motorcycle into an electric one. He bought an 8hp used electric motor (Briggs&Stratton) from Craigslist, mounted the batteries into the place of the old motor… and that’s it!

If you think electric - think Reva. Nice motto for a small electric car! But small doesn’t seem bad at all. Electric cars have started to evolve in all corners of the world. Regardless the designers’ origins they have one common point: to create a reliable zero emission car.
